My Internship Interview experiences- Amazon and Adobe
Hello readers!
Let's start with a quick intro of me.
My name is Poojitha Ravuri. I am currently in my pre-final year pursuing Bachelors in Computer Science and Engineering from K L University. (Will graduate in 2023)
I had fortunately grabbed two internship offers from Amazon and Adobe.
Roles are as follows:
Adobe — Product Intern
Amazon — SDE Intern
The remaining part of this post will be regarding the interview processes.
Let's start with Adobe.
Adobe Internship selection process:
So, it was through Adobe Shecodes. All the females from circuit branches, who are in their prefinal year, were eligible.
Round 1: Adobe Assessment
It was on 31st October 2021 at 11 am. We must log in within 45mins of the scheduled time.
The test pattern is as follows:
Cognitive Assessment: It had two sections namely English and Numerical Ability. The English section had 10 paragraph-based questions. The Numerical Ability had 10 mathematical questions on topics like trigonometry, geometry, etc. There was no negative marking.
Computer Fundamental: This section had questions on topics like Data Structures and Algorithms, OS, DBMS, OOPS, and SQL. There was no negative marking.
Coding Assessment: There were two questions. The first question is based on DP and 2d matrix. The second question, I couldn't recollect (Sorry for that:p)
Gamified Assessment: This section had game-based questions that had to be done according to the given instructions. The goal was to complete the highest level possible in the given time. This tested your pattern matching ability and memory mapping.
Tips for Gamified round:
- Before the actual test, they will show you a few examples and you can practice there as many times as you want. Start the test, only if you are clear with all the instructions.
- Google about the round, you will get a few sites that show you actually what the test is about. You can find those in the resources section below.
- Be fast and answer correctly.

On 5th November, Adobe has conducted a session to share about the internship and interview overview.
Round 2: Resume Screening
On 8th November 2021, I got a mail saying that I had cleared the assessment and the next step was to upload my resume.
So the 2nd round was Resume screening.
After that, the last step is the interview.
Round 3: Interview, the D-Day
On 25th November 2021, I got a mail about the interview schedule. My interview was on 29th November at 3 pm. The interview was 45–50mins.
So my interview had started.
We started with introductions.
Then Interviewer asked me if I had done any projects in college and we discussed the projects for 5mins.
After that, he started with Problem Solving.
He gave me two DSA questions of Leetcode - medium difficulty.
- Dynamic Programming
- Trees + Linked List (Yes, the second question was a mix of tree data structure and linked list).
I had solved both of them correctly (as mentioned by the interviewer) in time.
Now let's talk about how to approach the given question.
- The most important step is to understand the question very clearly. Don't make any assumptions, ask any doubt to the interviewer directly. Don’t feel shy here.
- Start with the brute force approach, explaining the time and space complexity. Also, explain how you come up with that complexity analysis.
- If you know the solution already, don't jump into an optimized approach directly. Act like you are thinking and coming up with a solution.
- Now explain your optimized solution and complexity analysis.
- Don't get tensed at any point of time. If you are stuck ask the interviewer if he could give any hint. It's not a negative point. So don't hesitate to ask.
- Be confident and ask for some time if you want to think and think out loud. Don’t keep silent for more than 1min. You must talk every time until the interview ends.
- Be prepared for the worst case.
- Also, be prepared for the questions which you need to ask at the end of your interview. Prepare at least 3–5 questions.
Yayy moment
On 3rd December 2021, I got the mail about my offer!
Amazon Internship selection process:
It was through Amazon WoW. This is an initiative by Amazon for female candidates who are in the pre-final and final year.
For prefinal year students, they offer 2 months summer internship and for final year students, they offer a 6months internship starting from January.
The role decides on their online tests performance. Through Amazon WoW, students may get SDE roles, Data Analyst, System Engineer, Support Engineer, Programmer Analyst, and other roles.
The process started in August 2021.
There were 2 online assessments and 1 technical interview.
You can check the below article to know about the amazon wow internship selection process (She had explained it in detail).

Round 3: September 26th,2021 (Technical Interview).
I was asked 2 DSA questions.
The first question was on Tree (Difficulty level: Medium-hard)
The second question was on Dynamic programming (Difficulty level:Medium)
After 2 sleepless nights, on 28th September, I had my offer in hand🥳
Few tips/Resources:
1) Start preparing your resume. Use latex. You can do it at overleaf.com. Check for a deedy resume or any other and edit that.
2)For any interview you need to be strong in the following:
- Data structures and algorithms(most important)
- OOPS
- Operating systems
- DBMS
- Computer networks(only a few companies ask, but in the online assessment, they may ask this).
Practice MCQs from all the topics from geeks for geeks or sanfoundry.
Coming to projects.. do 2 mini-projects. Projects may be from web dev or android or on any domain. Make sure you can explain about your project for at least 5mins.
DSA:
Practice ques from leetcode.com, codechef.com, codeforces.com
Give as many contests as you can. Don't get disappointed if you are unable to do. Just check editorials after the contest. Try to upsolve them.
Try to do internships at the end of your 2nd year. It will add good value to your resume. But I have seen some people who had not done internships but were placed at good companies. But doing an internship is always a plus.
Try to be more active on linkedin.com

Do participate in a few hackathons. Check them in HackerEarth or dare2compete. (Not mandatory just a plus).
Push your projects to Github. Try to learn about Git and GitHub.
Few Youtube channels I followed:
- Got 2 offers after so many rejections. So do apply for every opportunity that comes in, and don’t get disappointed if you get rejected. Just wait for that day. Be calm, and practice more🤞.
Last point: Be ready with your resume. Nowadays many applications are opening but they are closing very soon. So whenever you saw an opening, apply immediately. Don't wait for more than a day.
